Thornlea Pool Update: the pool reopened January 15, 2024. The life of this important Thornhill asset has been extended decades for all Markham residents to enjoy. Staffing levels are high and program enrolment exceeds pre-pandemic levels. I am grateful to the city’s Asset Management, Operations and Recreation teams.

Regional Councillor Jones, as chair of the sub-committee, and the city's Planning staff have scheduled a meeting of the Thornhill Sub-Committee to provide an update on the proposed redevelopment of the Bahá’í National Centre at 7200 and 7290 Leslie Street.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held in the Council Chamber at the Markham Civic Centre at 101 Town Centre Blvd. Note: Sub-Committee meetings are NOT livestreamed. Anyone who wishes to attend may do so in the Council Chamber or may request the Zoom link to attend virtually. Requests for the zoom link can be sent to ealligood@markham.ca or clerkspublic@markham.ca. If you wish to address members of the Thornhill Sub-Committee at this meeting, or you would like to submit a written submission, please notify the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on April 8 with an email to clerkspublic@markham.ca. Statutory Public Meeting
Topic: 28 and 32 Kirk Drive
The City of Markham has received a Major Zoning By-Law Amendment application for 28 and 32 Kirk Drive. The applicant is proposing to rezone and sever the two properties to create two additional residential lots. The two existing single detached homes are proposed to be demolished and a total of four single detached dwellings constructed on the retained and severed lots.
